After months of planning and anticipation, Mr. Calzone officially opened its doors at Unit 16B, 1399 McPhillips Street in Northgate Shopping Centre—marking the fifth location of this Winnipeg-born restaurant and its first in the northern part of the city.

This new restaurant brings something exciting and much-needed to the area: a halal-certified, family-friendly destination serving bold and original calzones, pizzas, shawarmas, and more—crafted with the same passion and flavour that has defined the Mr. Calzone experience since 2011.
A New Chapter for a Local Favourite
Founded in downtown Winnipeg over a decade ago, Mr. Calzone has become a household name for its signature fusion of Italian and Middle Eastern cuisine. What started as a single storefront has grown into a proudly local restaurant chain rooted in community, family, and bold flavour innovation.
Opening a new location on McPhillips Street represents more than expansion—it’s a homecoming of sorts. Many of Mr. Calzone’s long-time supporters and loyal customers live in the North End, and this new restaurant allows us to serve them closer to home.
A Grand Celebration with the Community
The grand opening event, held on Saturday, April 26, 2025, was an unforgettable celebration. Between 4:00 PM and 8:00 PM, hundreds of guests came through our doors to experience the newest Mr. Calzone firsthand. Attendees were treated to free calzones, pizzas, drinks, and more, making it an evening filled with food, laughter, and genuine connection.
We’re incredibly grateful to all who came out to celebrate with us—especially our partners, city councillors, community leaders, and of course, our loyal customers. The energy in the restaurant that night was electric, and we couldn’t have asked for a warmer welcome.
